3. Many people don't realize
the costs associated with collecting and processing donated items, such
as manpower, transportation costs, rent, utilities, hangers, and racks.
Our costs are much like the expenses to run your household
and we all know that is not cheap.
Most of the merchandise you see in
our stores are items that citizens of the community
donated. These items are processed using our standardized
price list. Prices are based on new purchase price, value,
and customer demand and are set by experienced Goodwill management.
We continually train our processors to make them aware of
valuable donations.
We unit price most of our items,
meaning that a pair of pants will cost $2.99. However, some
donated items are brand names and can be brand new or like-new.
We use special prices on these items because they are more
valuable, based on the brand name or the condition of the items.
We also buy "close-outs," and so you may find new items in
our stores occasionally. These items cost more than regular donated
merchandise because they are new and Goodwill had to buy them.
There are, however, many tools to
save money when shopping at our stores. First, we offer a
Super Saver program, which allows frequent shoppers to receive $20 in
free merchandise for every $200 purchased. We also offer a
10% discount every day for shoppers aged 62 years and older.
There are two color features each
week, which are "Buy one--get one free." This means you pay
for the most expensive item and receive the lesser-priced item free.
Also, there in once color of clothing barb on sale each
Sunday and items barbed with that color are 99 cents all day .
Finally, we operate the As-is clearance store, which is located beside
the Lee Boulevard store in Lawton. Items in this store are
priced rock-bottom. For example, most clothes are only
fifty cents each. Return to FAQs
